In order to be able to quickly search for the required information, it is essential to first of all provide effective meta-information. Last year in Germany, the rules for meta-information based on iiRDS (The Intelligent Information Request and Delivery Standard) were standardized as IEC PAS 63485. Here, I shall use specific examples to examine whether the rules which were determined can also be applied to the manuals for industrial device manufacturers. Moreover, this case study presentation will be the first presentation of the results of the ongoing research which is being engaged in by JTCA’s “Meta-information Initiatives Practical Technology Study Group for Next-generation Content Management.”

Biography

I have been creating manuals for DMG MORI, machine tool company, for over 20 years. The most interesting part of our work is that Japanese contents and English contents are created by the same person. In this way, the quality of both Japanese and English contents improves.
Since 2017, we have been working with German and Italian colleagues to harmonize the contents of our documents. This is really challenging, but we cooperate with each other very well. For this work, terminology harmonization is really important. We have a weekly meeting for document harmonization and another weekly meeting for terminology harmonization. Work is so interesting!
And of course we discuss meta data, too!
