Empowering intelligent technologies

Looking at things that work

Information Energy 2019 focuses on how we empower emerging technologies with information. In 2018, we were centred around natural conversation, machines and humans working together, and trying to understand the roadmap to AI. In the last year, we can observe new initiatives in research and implementation to find practical industrial applications.

In Deep Learning, progress is being made in linguistics, and real applications are developing in areas such as medical diagnostics and, with somewhat less success, human resources. Information Energy 2019 continues our exploration of the relationship between information and technology, focussing on examples that work now or will in the near future.

We will highlight these main themes:

  • Predictive maintenance
  • Information and the Industrial Internet of Things (IIOT)
  • The changing structure of learning under the influence of Information 4.0.
  • Semantic AI - where are these technologies going and how can they help us?

Discover the Keynote: Speakers Conversationalise User Experience!

We are excited to announce, as our keynote speakers for Information Energy 2019, Marianne Macgregor, User Assistance Development Architect at SAP, and Pierre-Edouard Lieb, Partnership & Pre-Sales Manager of SAP Conversational AI (formerly Recast). You won’t want to miss their exploration of the synergy between technology and information that goes into making a successful conversational interface using Natural Language Processing (NLP) and other emerging technologies. They’ll cover business needs, information design and architecture, technology, user experience, and the structured content that goes into making a successful system.

Marianne Macgregor is a German Scot and works for SAP as a User Assistance Development Architect. She is currently leading an SAP User Assistance project on conversational UI and chatbots, something she is very passionate about. As part of her job, she is constantly looking at new technologies and the role user assistance can play in the future of work.

Pierre-Edouard Lieb joined SAP after the acquisition of Recast.AI early 2018, a French startup specialised in artificial intelligence.
He is now responsible for managing the unit's partnerships, as well as pre-sales.
