The energy used for digital content has a shocking carbon footprint. Historically, most people haven't considered the energy it takes to store, deliver, and consume the masses of data required to make the internet function. While there are growing concerns about the environmental and social impacts of AI, there is less attention given to the downstream impacts of our websites, podcasts, apps, and even video calls. This talk will explain the fundamental impacts of our digital content, and present tools for measuring those impacts.

Using the presented methodologies, we can develop sustainable content that will improve usability, mitigate environmental and financial costs, and boost audience satisfaction.
